Man Assaulted After Garage Burgled

A man has been attacked after chasing two burglars who robbed a Texaco garage in Weymouth.
The burglary occured in the early hours of Monday morning at the Portland Road branch with the offenders making off with a quantity of money.
The man ran after the burglars before being assaulted and having his mobile phone stolen.
Detective Constable Ian Frizzle, of Weymouth CID, said: "One of the offenders confronted and then assaulted the witness before running off again along Williams Avenue and into Fairview Road - the courageous witness continued to follow the two - at the junction of Williams Avenue and Fairview Road the witness was again threatened by one of the offenders and his mobile phone was stolen".
The man, who is not being identified to the media, received minor injuries in the attack.
