Man Injured After Walking Into Traffic

Police are investigating how a 31-year-old man was hit by a car on the Wessex Way near Bournemouth.

They've told Heart that he climbed over a fence to get onto the hard shoulder of the busy road on Saturday March the 10th at around 5.30pm.

The man was seen walking out in front of traffic between the St Pauls roundabout and the northbound Springbourne off-slip.

Drivers had to brake heavily and swerve, then after one car managed to avoid him, another hit him.

He was thrown onto the bonnet, windscreen and roof, suffering serious head injuries. The female driver was left in severe shock.

The man was taken to Poole hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

The Wessex Way was shut for three hours while police investigated what happened.
