Man Punched Girl On Her Way To School

Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a teenage girl was assaulted in the West Howe area of the town.

The incident, in which a man punched a 16-year-old girl in the stomach, happened between Poole Lane and Duck Lane at around 9am yesterday, Tuesday, 27 September 2011.

The victim, an Oakmead College student from Bournemouth, continues to receive treatment.

Detective Constable Ben Singleton, of Bournemouth CID, said:


"This was a shocking attack on a teenage girl as she made her way to the nearby school.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault, and anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Duck Lane and Poole Lane yesterday morning, to contact me as soon as possible."

The offender is white, around five feet ten inches tall, of a medium build, with short dark hair.

He was wearing black trousers and a jacket at the time of the attack.

DC Singleton continued:

"Incidents such as this are very unusual – it is essential that anyone with any information contacts police urgently."
