Missing 21 Year Old

Dorset police have released a photo of a missing 21 year old man from Bournemouth.

Jurij Sliachtecov, of St. Peters Road in Bournemouth, was reported missing just before 5pm on Sunday, 1 May 2011, and was last seen on Friday, 29 April 2011.

Officers believe that he may come to some harm.

Police Constable Craig Jeffery, of Bournemouth police, said:

"Jurij left his English bank cards and clothes behind but has taken his passport.

"His friends originally believed that he may have returned to his native Lithuania.

"After contact with Jurij's family in Lithuania it has been established he has not returned to his family.

"Also, in his last conversation with his girlfriend he told her she would not see him again.

"Naturally, his family are extremely concerned that he may have come to some harm.

"His family have stated that Jurij has now featured in the national press, including the Lithuanian equivalent of Crimewatch, and that they have been advised by the authorities that he has not entered the country.

"Jurij has a number of friends in the UK and friends and family in Lithuania - he has failed to make contact with any of them.

"He also failed to contact his grandmother, who he considers his mother, on the Lithuanian equivalent of Mothers' day on 1 May - this is something he has never missed before."

Jurij is white, of Eastern European appearance, five feet six inches tall, of slim build and has short brown hair and is clean shaven.

He normally wears jeans and a T-shirt.

PC Jeffery continued:

"I am appealing for anyone who has seen Jurij to contact police urgently.

"It is essential that we find Jurij so that we can make sure that he is safe and well – anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should call us as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information or knowledge as to Jurij's whereabouts should call Dorset Police on 01202 222 222, quoting incident number 01:382.
