Bournemouth has hosted its first open-air performance on the site of the old IMAX building.

Three thousand people watched two free shows by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on the seafront at 4pm and 8pm on Saturday 29th June.

The events attracted a huge interest with 8,500 tickets being applied for.

Leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra provided a superb evening of entertainment to mark the first events taking place at the Pier Approach open air events space.

“Residents who were not lucky enough to receive ballot tickets won’t miss out though, as the Council is organising a free summer entertainments programme at Pier Approach. The full programme is still being worked on, but I am delighted to reveal that it will feature further opportunities to see Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians.”
