Reconstruction of Fatal A338 Biker Crash

Dorset Police are going to hold a reconstruction of an accident, in which a motorcyclist died at the weekend.

The man in his 60's and from Hampshire, came off his black Suzuki bike around 09.26am on the A338 spur road coming out of Bournemouth on saturday (April 9th 2011), not far from a speed camera van.

The victim has been formally identified but an inquest has yet to be opened and adjourned so his name isn't being released. His family have asked for privacy so they can grieve their loss.

Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector John Mallice said:

"My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this difficult time. Our investigators are now reconstructing what took place, not only so we can to inform the family about what happened, but with an aim to reduce road casualties.

"We would also like to thank members of the public who stopped to assist at what was a traumatic incident. The A338 had to be closed for almost 4 hours between Backwater Junction and the Cooper Dean roundabout. This was not a decision taken lightly and I hope the road using public understand the need to investigate road deaths and ensure those who tragically die on our roads are dealt properly and with dignity."
