A £500 reward is being offered to catch the people who ruined two football pitches used by children in Wimborne.

The offenders repeatedly drove over the grass pitches at Gaunts Common overnight on Tuesday.

PC Jane Brittain, of the East Dorset Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "To be suddenly faced with this amount of damage is heartbreaking for those involved with Holt Football Club and I am determined to find the culprits.

"From the damage it looks like a vehicle has been driven round and round both the senior pitch and the youth team pitch and this has badly damaged the grass playing surface which was very wet at the time."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 or 01305 22 22 22 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
