A Royal Mail van packed with letters and parcels was taken as the driver emptied a post box on Wolterton Road on Friday evening.
The van was parked on Wolterton Road when it was stolen at around 17.30pm on Friday 9 May.
The vehicle contained a large quantity of parcels and packages, some bagged in grey, blue or green Royal Mail sacks.
The postman did not see who took the vehicle.
The van was later found by the National Police Air Service helicopter in Bourne Valley Business Park off Yarmouth Road.
Police Constable Tim Gooding of Poole police said:
"I am keen to speak to anyone who saw a Royal Mail van in strange circumstances, during the evening rush hour on Friday 9 May 2014.
"In particular I would like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle being unloaded around Yarmouth Road or Bourne Valley Road in Poole.
"I would also like to know if anyone has seen discarded post bags, parcels and packages."
