Surf Reef Repair Work Delayed?

Repair work to the artifical surf reef at Boscombe could now be delayed until spring next year as attention turns to winter-proofing it.

A meeting on its progress took place in Bournemouth last week (21 October 2011) between Bournemouth Council and Mr Nick Behunin, ASR's Managing Director.

The reef was damaged earlier on in the year after it got hit by a boat.

Tony Williams, Executive Director of Environment & Economy, said;

"We had a most productive meeting with Mr Behunin and ASR have confirmed their commitment to continuing to undertake the repair work to the reef. ASR have assured us that the team will be out on site at the next available weather opportunity and will continue to work on the reef in the spring of 2012."

Nick Behunin, Managing Director of ASR Ltd, said;

 "We have always said that the Boscombe reef is an important project for us and one in which we have taken great measures to support the community. Given that autumn is now firmly upon us it is our priority to focus immediate works to prepare the reef for winter weather."
