Teenage Rider Hurt In Hit And Run
Police in Christchurch are appealing for witnesses after a hit and run in the Highcliffe area of the town.
At approximately 12.20am on Sunday 6 January 2013, a crash happened between a silver MG ZR and a man riding a scooter along Lymington Road toward Bure Lane.
The scooter rider, a 19-year-old man from Bournemouth, was thrown several meters off his bike after the impact and landed in the road.
He sustained leg injuries and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
The driver of the silver MG left the scene without leaving any details, and headed towards New Milton.
Police Constable Bill Nightingall, of Christchurch police, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Dorset Police urgently.
“The driver will undoubtedly be aware he struck the motorcyclist and fled without any regard for his welfare, and I would urge them to do the right thing and speak with the police.
“The victim is extremely lucky to have only suffered minor injuries.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
