Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after an alleged assault in the Moordown area of the town.
The incident, in which a man and a woman were reported to have been assaulted by another man, happened on Malvern Road on the corner of Nursery Road around 9pm on Sunday 15 July 2012.
One of the victims, a 45-year-old Bournemouth woman, sustained facial injuries and a broken finger.
Detective Constable Sharon Kay, of Bournemouth CID, said:
"This was an unprovoked assault on this couple as they walked along the road.
"They were approached by a man and a woman walking toward them who were arguing.
"It is then alleged that the offender punched the male victim, a 47-year-old from Bournemouth, once and the female victim several times causing her to fall to the ground."
A 38-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested and released on police bail.
DC Kay continued:
"We would very much like to speak to anyone who may have seen this incident or has any information that may help the investigation.
"Some witnesses have kindly left contact details already but have not been available when we have tried to call, so we would be grateful if they could call us again."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 15:531. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
