Police are warning lorry drivers about lots of diesel thefts in Poole.
Dorset Police has received several reports of diesel being stolen from businesses on Nuffield Industrial Estate and the Benridge and Sovereign business parks since mid December 2012.
John Green, Dorset Police Crime Prevention and Design Advisor, said:''Following a recent increase in diesel thefts in the Poole area, I'm
encouraging businesses to take simple measures to reduce their chances of being targeted by thieves.
In most cases, the diesel has been stolen overnight from parked lorries.
Businesses should park their lorries inside buildings wherever possible.
If this is not possible, park vehicles in a secure compound. At the very least, ensure vehicles are parked in a well lit area.
Also, make sure you leave as little fuel as possible in the tank.
If you have lights, cameras or alarms available please use them. Make sure they are operating correctly and are fit for purpose.
The Dorset Police Crime Prevention and Design Advisors can provide further information, especially about using and installing cameras and alarms.
