Woman Hit by Car Outside Supermarket

An 85 year old woman's been hit by a car outside a supermarket in Weymouth.

Traffic officers are asking any witnesses to come forward - it happened in the WM Morrison’s supermarket car park along Dorchester Road at 4.10pm on Sunday, 20 February 2011.

A purple Citroen Picasso, driven by a 58-year-old Weymouth man, was in collision with a pedestrian, an 85-year-old woman from Reading.

The pedestrian was taken to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance and later discharged with injuries to her head, shoulder and chest.

Police constable Steve Pullan, of Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said:

“The incident occurred on the side of the store entrance where the customer shopping trolleys and the disabled customer parking spaces are located.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision to contact me.

“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
