Woman Punched In Attempted Robbery

Detectives in Bournemouth are investigating an attempted robbery in the Winton area of the town.

It happened at around 10pm on Thursday 27th September on Victoria Park Road.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman from Bournemouth, was approached by a man while she was out jogging. He punched her in the face and demanded property.

When the victim said she had nothing with her, the man ran off in the direction of Morden Road.

Police Constable Simon Bellamy, of Bournemouth police, said:

“This was a nasty attack on a young woman as she enjoyed a run, and she is very lucky to have only sustained minor bruising to her face.

“The victim has been left shaken by this incident, and we believe it is likely somebody may have some information that can help us in our investigation.

“I urge anyone with any details to contact Dorset Police on 101 in the strictest confidence.”

The offender is described as a white man aged in his early twenties, of muscular build and wearing a dark coloured hooded top.
