Armed Robber Jailed For Shop Raids

Luton man Westleigh Brimble has been jailed for seven years for a series of shop robberies.

During a three week period in January of this year Brimble struck at Tesco and Co-op stores in an around the Luton area.

He was armed with a knife and he hid his face behind a scarf and hoodie .

The raids were usually early evening when it was dark, Luton crown court was told and he would demand cash and cigarettes from frightened counter staff

In court today Brimble, 34, from Marsh Road in Luton pleaded guilty to two robberies and one attempted robbery.

He asked for three further offences to be taken into consideration.

Claudette Elliott prosecuting said despite being terrified, none of the victims were actually harmed.

On January 10 Brimble struck at The Co-op in High Streetm Hougfhton Regis.

On January 15th he struck first at the Tesco store in Bishopscote Road, Luton and then 15 minutes later at The Co-op store in Market Square, Farley Hill.
