Officers in Luton investigating an assault have released CCTV in a hope that someone will be able to identify those responsible.
The incident happened at the Londis Store in Addington Way, Luton on 29 January at 3.30pm as the victim tried to stop a theft from the shop.
The man shown in the CCTV wearing a red hooded top originally entered the location but was stopped on his way out by a member of the public who he then attacked, a second man wearing the grey hooded top then entered the shop and also attacked the member of the public, a third man kept the door open for their escape.
PC Charlie Pirie, investigating, said: “The member of the public who was assaulted was very brave and suffered bruising to his face but we would not encourage others to put themselves in a dangerous position where they could be harmed. There was also a considerable amount of damage caused inside the shop and we are dealing with this incident as an assault, criminal damage and theft.”
If you have information relating to the identity of this man you can contact PC Charlie Pirie, at Luton Police Station, in confidence, on 01582 394491, or text information to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
