Residents near the Buncefield oil depot are being warned not to be alarmed tonight (Monday June 6th) when they see fire engines rushing to the scene of the 2005 disaster.

An emergency exercise is taking place at the terminal from 7pm when fire crews will tackle a jet fuel fire around a storage tank to practise for a real-life emergency.

The site will be shut down and evacuated while 14 fire engines will be involved in the exercise, designed to train part-time firefighters.
