Change4 Life Fitness campaign in Luton

Luton Borough Council's supporting the Department of Health's 'Change4 Life' initiative by starting their own local campaign. They are encouraging people to sign up to the 3x30 pledge to be active at least three times a week for at least 30 minutes.

This is Luton's version of a larger national campaign by the Department of Health, Change4 Life, encouraging people to live more active and healthy lifestyles.

Physical activity includes everyday walking, cycling, working out in the gym, dancing and families playing together as well as organised sport - there is something out there for everyone!

The Take 3 4 Life pledge is being launched today with stands packed with information on ways to live a more active and healthy lifestyle in the Mall outside the Post Office and at the Change 4 Life shop. Staff will be on hand offering plenty of encouragement and helpful tips and advice. People walking past will be invited to sign the pledge and those that sign up will be supported and encouraged to exercise through various incentives.

Cllr Mohammed Ashraf, member responsible for leisure and sports in Luton, said: “Physical activity can be fun, good for your health both socially and physically, and enhance your overall quality of life.”

He added: “People who are physically active reduce their risk of developing a stroke, type-2 diabetes and other health risks by up to 50 per cent, so I encourage everyone to sign up to the pledge today.”
