Girl Sexually Assaulted On Way To School

25 February 2012, 07:48

A 15 year old girl was sexually assaulted on her way to school in Dunstable on Thursday morning.

She was approached by a man at around 8.15am and he tried to strike up a conversation with her.

As the victim walked along the alleyway between Norfolk Road and Manshead Close, the man asked if he could meet the girl later in the day. When she refused, he then touched her before he walked away and the victim ran to school to raise the alarm.

He is described as white, in his early 20s, of medium height and build, and was wearing a grey hooded top, black jogging bottoms and a pair of 'tatty' white trainers.

Another incident was reported to the police on Tuesday (Feb 21) morning when a similar man asked another school girl to meet him as she walked through an alley close to Southwood Road. He then left the scene after the girl refused.

Detective Constable Lucy Fountain, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim of this attack has been left extremely traumatized by the ordeal and it is important that we find this man who did this and stop him from committing further offences. I'd like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence or anyone else who may have information - however small or insignificant they think it is - that could help us. Don't dismiss your information as unimportant - even tiny details which don't seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation."

Anyone who has concerns relating to these incidents is urged to speak to the Local Policing Team who will be out and in the area completing high visibility and providing reassurance to the community.
