A police officer today (Monday May 9th) pleaded not guilty to killing two men in a road crash which happened when he was answering a 999 call.

The men were on their way home from work just after midnight when they were struck by a police car in Leagrave Road, Luton.

Mr Smith, who has not been suspended from Bedfordshire police and continues to work, was granted bail by Judge Stephen Gullick when he appeared at St Albans crown court.
