Rebecca Hume
Where are you from? I grew up in the West Midlands but spent the last 10 years in sunny Brighton. I now live down the road in Luton.
What were you doing before radio? I was working in social care before going back to University in London to do a Post Grad Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.
Best part of the job? Going out and interviewing people – not knowing who you will be speaking to, each day is different which I love. And of course reading the news on air is great!
Moment you'd most like to forget? My computer crashing whilst interviewing a newly elected MP.
Three words that describe you? Genuine, open and curious.
What advice would you give to anyone hoping to get started in journalism? Get work experience, do a broadcast journalism course to get the basic skills and be nosey.
Dream interview? So many but I would start with Prince, Barack Obama, Nick Clegg, Nelson Mandella and Simon Cowell…
If I wasn't a news reporter I'd be... Bored and wondering what to do next… but I wouldnt mind teaching Pilates or making documentaries.
