The Queen will be in Hertfordshire on June 14th.

10.45 - Hitchin

The Queen will arrive at Hitchin Market Square where they will meet shopkeepers and view a presentation by local schoolchildren before heading to the Lister hospital in Stevenage to open the new Jubilee Maternity wing. Members of the public wishing to be part of the celebrations in Hitchin are advised to arrive at Hitchin Market Square by no later than 10am.

Cllr Joan Kirby, Chairman of North Hertfordshire District Council said: “We are absolutely delighted and honoured that Hitchin has been chosen as one of the venues for Her Majesty the Queen to visit as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour especially given the late Queen Mother’s connections to Hitchin in her early life. It will be a fantastic opportunity for both schoolchildren and shopkeepers alike to show off what our beautiful town has to offer."

Cllr Lynda Needham, Leader of North Hertfordshire District Council said: “I am sure North Hertfordshire residents will agree that the summer of 2012 is proving to be very exciting with this hugely prestigious Royal visit to Hitchin followed later in the summer by the Olympic Torch relay procession passing through Letchworth on 8 July. There are many celebrations planned throughout the district for the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics and this will really be the icing on the cake.”

11.15 - Lister Hospital, Stevenage

The Queen will then open the new Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

11.45 - Hatfield House

The Queen will visit Hatfield House, where a “Diamond Jubilee tree” will be planted in Hatfield Park, followed by a drinks reception and lunch at Hatfield House.
