The plight of carers in Hertfordshire looking after loved ones is being highlighted this week as part of National Carers Week.

15-year-old Ellie Dalton-Farmer is a young carer from Hertfordshire who looks after her mother with MS.

She is also the Chair of the Young Carers Council and attends the Young Carers Project for extra support.

Who is a Young Carer?

Young Carers are children and young people between 9-18 years who help care for family members who may be ill, have a physical or mental disability, or drug or alcohol problem.

Joining the Project means youngsters can come along and join in with activities and trips - which are free and all transport is provided.

Hertfordshire Young Carers Project started in 1999. It is a county-wide project so there are lots of young carers in the County who should know about the Project.
