A 7 month old wallaby, who was abandoned by her mother, has to be hand-fed by new surrogate mum, Whipsnade zookeeper Alex Pinnell.
Alex has to feed baby Pip so many times – every four hours – that she has now made her rucksack into a pouch.
29 year old Alex, who works on the farm section and with the sea lions at the Bedfordshire zoo, keeps Pip with her during the day at all times and will be in charge of looking after her for the next few months.
After that, she will live on the zoo’s Children’s Farm.
Alex has been telling Heart:
“She is adorable but exhausting! Luckily she is starting to sleep through at night now and is very good at taking her bottle!”
