Police can confirm a man has died following an industrial incident at Briar Chemicals in Norwich this afternoon.

Police can confirm a man has died following an industrial incident at Briar Chemicals in Norwich this afternoon.

Officers were called to the Sweet Briar Road site at about 3.10pm following reports of an explosion.

A man injured in the incident was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but he sadly died a short time later.

No one else was injured but another man was treated for shock and taken to hospital.

It has been confirmed the incident is not chemical related and there was no risk to other site workers or the public.

Officers are currently working with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident and enquiries are on-going.
