A 46 year old man's been detained under the Mental Health act after police were called to Norwich, to reports of a man in distress.
Officers were called to an area in Earlham shortly before 2.30pm yesterday (30 June). Specially trained officers were called to the scene negotiated with the man for around three hours. He was detained at about 5.35pm.
Earlham Road was closed in both directions between the Fiveways Roundabout and the Three Score junction in Bowthorpe for police to deal with the situation. This has now been lifted and police would like to thank motorists for their patience.
There was no wider threat to the public during the incident.
