Police say a woman found dead with her partner in a house fire WAS probably killed before the blaze started.

The body of the woman, in her mid-30s, was found in the ground floor of the terraced house in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on Sunday.

The body of the man was in an upstairs room where the fire is thought to have started.

Police said the woman died before the fire and they were now treating her death as suspicious.

The man's death is not suspicious and officers said they were not looking for anyone else.

Neighbours described the pair, believed to be from The Gambia, as "friendly, pleasant, nice and respectable" and said they had lived in the road for several years.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Guy said: "Investigations indicate the female victim was killed prior to the fire.

I can  confirm we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this enquiry as I am convinced that this was a domestic incident involving the couple."
