180 million pounds is going to be spent improving Lakeside Shopping Centre.

By 2015 there will be around 40 new shops there, more restaurants and an improved transport hub.

The proposals also include around 1,000 construction jobs, as well as 2,500 permanent jobs once the development is complete.

Lakeside Shopping CentrePaul Lancaster is the General Manager of Lakeside. He's been telling Heart: "Lakeside has served the community for the past 21 years, and we're very excited about this new development. This development will allow us to introduce new brands and widen our offer to customers.

"The proposed integrated transport hub will make using public transport easier, with shorter and sheltered links between bus and rail."

A public exhibition of the plans is taking place inside the complex today (Thursday October 20th) until Saturday (October 22nd).
