Rhea in a flowerbed

Who expects to see a bird which looks similar to an ostrich sitting in their flowerbed? Certainly not this homeowner.

They've said the unusual bird just strolled into their garden and wandered around last Friday afternoon (9th November).

The RSPCA had to call a team from Colchester Zoo to help them remove it.

Inspector Ann Bennett, from the RSPCA has said "As you can imagine catching and then transporting a rhea can be a little tricky so I am so grateful to the staff at Colchester Zoo who came out to collect the bird and are temporarily keeping the rhea while we try to locate an owner."

They're urging anyone who may be missing the bird to call them on 0300 123 8018.
