A man has died after he was hit by a car in Basildon.
It happened as he was walking along Dry Street shortly before 8pm yesterday (Tuesday May 28th).
The man, who was in his 20s and lived locally, was taken to nearby hospital after sustaining multiple injuries. He died a short time later.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old woman from Chelmsford, was uninjured.
She was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and then released on police bail until Wednesday, July 31st.
A section of Dry Street near the hospital was closed while forensic collision investigators looked to identify the cause of the crash.
