Bike Ride For Cancer Charity

4 September 2011, 06:00

A charity bike ride is taking place in memory of an Essex mum today (Sunday 4 September).

Natalie Geary's taking part in the Southend Bikeathon raising money for the blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

It's after her mum Hazel Luckman died from the disease last year following a two and a half year battle.

Natalie said: "I used to see my mum everyday, so it’s left a massive hole in my life. She was an amazing lady, a lady of real strength. We cared for her together at home in the final few weeks and it was incredibly painful for everyone to see her deteriorating."

Joining the 37-year-old from Rochford for the 14-mile ride is close friend Nikki Woollard, who's also lost family members to blood cancer. To donate click here.

The 17th Southend Bikeathon starts at 9:30am on Sunday 4 September from Shoebury East Beach - find out more here.
