Braintree: Man Bailed Over OAP Death

Police have bailed a 39-year-old man from Braintree arrested over the death of a 65-year-old woman in Braintree until February 15th.

Police have named the victim as Valerie Ager. 

She died following a verbal argument in the street between dog owners. Mrs Ager was accompanied by a man in his 60s.

The incident started at about 9.45am in Trafalgar Way and moved into Connaught Gardens where she collapsed and an ambulance was called about 10.20am. Mrs Ager was taken inside an address in Connaught Gardens where sadly, she died.

A post mortem examination carried out this morning (January 5) was inconclusive and further tests are to be carried out. 

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating the death as a suspected manslaughter offence.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of Trafalgar Way and Connaught Gardens between 9.30 and 10.30am yesterday, Wednesday, January 4 and may have any information to contact the Brentwood Major Crime team on 101 or email scdappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk
