Essex Police say they've now charged a man following yesterday's crash.

Gheorghe Oancea, 30, of Cramphorn Walk, Chelmsford will appear before Chelmsford Magistrates on the 16th of November, following a collision on the A12 yesterday (Saturday 8th Sept);

Mr Oancea has been bailed until then after being charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit.

A man's been arrested after two collisions on the A12.

Police were called to the northbound carriageway yesterday morning after a Skoda Fabia crashed into the nearside barriers just after the Three Mile Hill turning.

After the crash, two cars stopped on the opposite side to help, but as one of the drivers got out of his he was struck by another vehicle leaving him with serious injuries.

The driver of the first car, a 30 year-old from Chelmsford has been arrested on suspicion of driving over the limit.

A man has been arrested following a collision between junctions 15 and 16 of the A12 this morning, September 8.

Essex Police say they were called just after 6am with reports that a Skoda Fabia heading northbound had driven into the nearside barrier, just after the Three Mile Hill turn off.

In a statement Essex Police say:

"The driver, a 30 year-old man from Chelmsford, was assessed at the scene by paramedics before being arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

He remains in the custody of police.  

Following this collision, two cars stopped on the southbound carriageway to offer assistance.  As one of the drivers got out of his car, he was struck by a passing vehicle.

He received a serious, but not life threatening injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. No further arrests have been made.

The road was closed for a time by officers managing the scene, and had reopened by around 8.30am.
