Colchester: Man Charged Over Musician's Murder

A teenager has been charged with murdering a songwriter in Colchester.

Jack Hummerstone is accused of the murder of Thomas Brittain in a flat in Colchester, in March.

He is due at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today (Monday April 15th).

The 18-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested in Islington, north London, at 3am yesterday.

He has also been charged with grevious bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Mr Brittain, 26, from Essex, died after being stabbed in the early hours of March 9th.

He was a songwriter and local music producer also known as Twister.

A 22-year-old man from London who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on police bail pending further inquiries until May 30.
