A man in his 80s has suffered burns after an explosion that caused part of his bungalow in Walton-on-the-Naze to collapse.
Emergency services were called to Elliots Drive just before 7.30pm yesterday.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to a bungalow after an explosion was heard.
"On arrival the incident commander reported that around half the bungalow - which measured eight metres by 10 metres - had collapsed. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reel jets and one main jet to tackle a fire.
"No one is missing or trapped as a result of the collapse but an Ambulance crew is dealing with a man in his eighties who has suffered burns.
"Firefighters had completed their work at the scene by 20:17hrs.
"An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of this fire".
