Essex coastguards and RNLI crews had one of their busiest days of the year yesterday (Thursday 1 August).

As the county saw one of the hottest days of the year, thousands flocked to beaches in Essex.

Coastguards were called out to reports of 11 children who had gone missing from beaches in Frinton, Southend and Walton.

All of the youngsters were found safely.

They also had to deal with six people who had become stuck in mud with water up to their waste in Canvey.

The group was safely taken ashore.
