An Essex Police Officer has been fined and given three points on his licence, after he admitted driving carelessly while on duty.
PC Paul Calpin's police car crashed with a car on Sadlers Farm Roundabout in Bowers Gifford on May 4th last year (2014).
The woman driver of the car was injured and her right foot was crushed. Her husband and five-year-old daughter, who were also in the car, suffered minor injuries.
PC Calpin, who is stationed at Laindon Roads Policing Unit, and the colleague he was with on the day suffered minor cuts and muscular injuries.
The 44 year old appeared at Basildon Magistrates' Court yesterday for sentencing having previously pleaded guilty to the charge at a hearing in November 2014.
He was sentenced to three penalty points, a £300 fine, £120 costs and a £35 statutory surcharge.
