Essex: Thieves Target Vehicles

More than 100 vehicles in Essex have had their catalytic converters stolen since the beginning of February.

Police are warning people with larger transport such as 4x4's, motor homes and vans to check they are secure.

The advice comes as 11 vehicles were targeted in Broomfield, Braintree, Witham, Halstead, Dunmow and Colchester at the beginning of the week.

Crime Reduction Advisor, Stephen Armson-Smith, said: "There are catalytic converter security marking kits including protective guards and alarm systems which people can buy on the internet.

"These act as a strong deterrent and help the police in successfully prosecuting those that steal or handle this stolen property."
