Harlow: Police Investigate House Fire

Essex police are investigating a fire which spread to a house in Harlow while the family inside slept.

Those living in the home in the The Briars were woken by people banging on their door letting them know at around 11pm on Wednesday.

Household items which had been put out by the occupants for collection by the council the next day, had been set on fire causing damage to the house.

Investigating officer, Pc Jonathan Ward said: "This was a frightening experience, particularly as there were two young children asleep in the property at the time and therefore I am keen to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

"I am appealing for any possible witnesses, in particular the passers-by who kindly raised the alarm, I urge them to contact me as they may have information that can assist with the investigation."
