Essex Police say a 27 year-old man from Basildon has been arrested after a man suffered gunshot wounds on Thursday in Laindon.
But police say at this stage, they're not linking it with a crash around 10 minutes earlier between a Renault and a BMW in Laindon, with reports a firearm was also seen and fired.
Essex Police say they've arrested a man in connection with a firearms incident in Laindon.
The 27 year-old man from Basildon was arrested last night (Saturday, 17th Nov), on suspicion of firearms offences and is currently in custody for questioning.
Officers say they're continuing to look for two other men in connection with the incident in Burdock Drive, Laindon, on Thursday (15th Nov).
Police were initially called with reports a Renault and a BMW were in collision just after 330pm and the BMW driver was seen with a firearm, which was reported to have then been discharged.
Following enquiries, it is now believed the collision happened about ten minutes before the gun was fired and say the two incidents are NOT linked.
Initial reports suggested no-one had been injured.
However we have now identified a man was injured and he has been taken to hospital with suspected gunshot injuries - the victim was not in either car.
Police say they are treating the firearms incident as being targeted, but they remain open minded as to the motive and circumstances.
Anyone with information who has yet to speak to police is asked to call 101.
