Man Charged Over Walton Care Home Murder

An 86 year-old man has been charged with the murder of an elderly woman at a care home in Walton.

Police found 81 year-old Rita King seriously injured at around 9am on Monday and she died shortly after.

A postmortem examination found she died from a gunshot wound to the head, and officers have recovered a revolver from the scene.

86 year-old Ronald King, from Cedar Close in Walton, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He has now been charged and is due before Chelmsford Magistrates' Court today.
