Man Dies After Being Hit On Head In Harwich

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was hit and killed with a metal object in Harwich.

Police were called to Barrack Lane, just before 10pm on July 31st following reports that a man had been assaulted.

The 44-year-old victim from Harwich is believed to have been hit with a metal object, Essex Police said. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on August 2nd.

A 21-year-old woman from the Clacton area and a 17-year-old teenager from Harwich were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old man from Harwich was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder. They are currently in custody for questioning.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Al Pitcher, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "I am keen to speak to witnesses who saw what happened or to anyone who was walking in the Barrack Lane area and saw anybody acting suspiciously around the time of the incident.

"I'd ask anyone with information to please contact us, or they can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously if they do not want to give their name."
