A 20 year-old man has died after the car he was driving came of the road and hit a tree near Brentwood.
Police were called to Eagles Way in Warley shortly after 9.45pm yesterday.
Essex Police said: "Officers, firefighters and ambulance paramedics went to the junction of Eagles Way and Hartswood Road and found a blue Peugeot 206 had left the carriageway before hitting the tree.
"The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man from Brentwood, was treated by paramedics but sadly declared deceased at the scene.
"A passenger in the car, a 21-year-old man, was taken to Queen's Hospital for treatment to injuries which were not believed to be serious.
"Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision who they have not yet spoken to or anyone who had seen the car being driven prior to the crash occurring.
