Kye Johnson's been sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison for stabbing a man with a knife in Braintree.
Essex Police say the ambulance service was called to Knights Road last December following a pre-meditated, jealous attack on a love rival.
A 24 year old man was taken to hospital and treated for a wound that severed an artery and bruised his sternum on December 15 2009.
Kye Johnson, aged 21 from Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield was arrested and found guilty of GBH with intent, wounding with intent and aggravated burglary on Friday, June 18.
Dc John Ixer from Braintree CID said: “Kye Johnson is a dangerous man, he attacked his victim in a pre-meditated assault and it is fortunate for the victim that the knife struck his sternum otherwise Johnson could have been facing a murder charge.
“Essex Police is pleased that the sentence reflects the very serious nature of this crime and that Johnson will be removed from the local community and given time in prison to reflect on his actions.
