The number of children needing foster homes in Essex has risen in the past year.

There are now around 1,600 looked-after youngsters in the county at any one time - that's up more than 6% compared with 2010.

Half of those needing foster care are teenagers who are one of the hardest groups to find suitable homes for.

Essex County Council has recruited 109 foster carers here in the last year - now they're hoping to find at least another 120 as recruitment events are held over the next 2 months.
