Police have been given more time to question a 24 year-old man over the murder of a pensioner in Chelmsford.
78 year-old Brian Hurry was found dead at his home on Bramwoods Road just after 5pm on Saturday (June 18).
Extra time has been granted for officers to question a 24 year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 41 year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail, as has a 20 year-old woman arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
A 43 year-old man who had also been arrested on suspicion of murder has been told he will not face any charges.
Senior investigating officer, DCI Martin Pasmore, said: "I am appealing for anyone with information that could assist our investigation, particularly any dog walkers or pedestrians who saw a man and a woman walking in the areas between Meadgate Avenue, the River Chelmer and Asda in Chelmer Village, between 6am and 8.45am on Saturday, June 18."
