A murder investigation has started after a man was stabbed in Chelmsford.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Baddow Road at the junction with Longfields Road at around 6.45am yesterday (Tuesday, 10 November).
Essex Police said: "A short time later, the ambulance service was flagged down by a group of males in Broomfield Road shortly before 6.55pm.
"With them was the victim, a 27-year-old man from Chelmsford, who had suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Broomfield Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
"He is thought to have been stabbed during the altercation in Baddow Road.
"Baddow Road was closed between the junctions with the B1009 Beehive Lane and Tabors Avenue until 3am this morning while forensic examinations were carried out."
DI Danny Stoten, who is leading the investigation, said: "This happened in a residential area in the early evening during rush hour, so it would have been busy.
"I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with information who has yet to speak to police to come forward."
