Stansted Terminal

Stansted Airport says a new rule stopping people from sleeping in the terminal overnight has been successful.

It was brought in around a month ago.

"It {having people sleeping in the terminal overnight} is dangerous," Customer Services and Security Director John Farrow told Heart.

"There's construction work going on - so there's health and safety issues there.

"We can't clean the premises when there's beds all over the place."

He says there's also no need to stay overnight at airports anymore because of better transport links and hotels on the doorstep.

"The feedback after a month is really, really positive.

"The vast majority of our customers are saying it's a much, much better experience for them when they're arriving at the airport because we can now clean it overnight.

"It's a better experience for everyone really - however we are still getting people turn up {expecting to sleep in the terminal overnight} - we'd discourage that".
