Parents are being reminded to apply early to avoid children missing out on preferred school places here.
Essex County Council is encouraging mums and dads to use the tools on its admissions website to help them pick the right school for their child.
The site contains information on schools, Ofsted reports and admissions criteria.
You can also submit applications online between Monday 17 October 2011 and Sunday 15 January 2012 for the September 2012 intake.

Essex County Councillor Stephen Castle, Cabinet Member for Education said: “Applying for the first school for your child can be daunting process. Last year we were able to provide most parents with their preferred school but schools can become oversubscribed so it is very important for parents to select more than one preference and keep their options open.”
