Police are questioning three men over the stabbing of a 70 year-old man in Colchester.

The pensioner was stabbed in the face, chest and back at about 5.40pm on Tuesday, 10 November in his back garden on Hythe Hill.

Three men were arrested yesterday (Wednesday, 2 March).

Essex Police said: "Police arrested a 20-year-old man from the Manningtree area on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder; and a 49-year-old from Manningtree and a 45-year-old from Colchester on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

"They are currently in custody awaiting questioning.

"On Tuesday March 1, detectives released CCTV images of people who were in the Hythe Hill and Port Lane area at the time of the incident and might have seen what happened or have vital information.

"They remain keen to speak to them and anyone else who was in the area between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on November 10".
